LG Energy Solution
While much of the industry has shifted to LFP chemistry for its thermal stability, LG utilizes NMC cells in the RESU16H Prime to achieve superior energy density. This allows for 16 kWh of capacity in a surprisingly slim profile. The 7.0 kW continuous output provides excellent backup capability. However, the inherent degradation curve of NMC means it is generally rated for fewer cycles (approx. 4,000) than LFP competitors, making it less suitable for aggressive daily cycling.
This battery is ideal for regions with infrequent but prolonged grid outages, where raw capacity outweighs daily cycle longevity. It integrates tightly with SolarEdge Energy Hub inverters, offering a highly polished app experience.
Despite its slim profile, the unit is heavy (159 kg) and requires proper mounting hardware. LG has implemented a modular design allowing the battery blocks to be carried separately from the control unit, easing the installation burden.
