BatteryBlueprint exists to provide transparent, engineering-grade battery sizing calculations for solar energy systems. We believe proper energy storage planning requires precise data, not rough estimates.
Our calculator uses industry-standard formulas to help you understand your energy storage needs before talking to installers. No marketing bias. No hidden assumptions. Just physics-based math.
How BatteryBlueprint Started
BatteryBlueprint was started in 2024 by a UK-based electrical engineer who had spent years specifying battery storage systems professionally — and kept watching homeowners get oversold, undersized, or both.
The trigger was a conversation with a neighbour who had been quoted a 5 kWh battery for a property using 18 kWh per day. The installer had not asked for an electricity bill, had not modelled autonomy days, and had not accounted for winter efficiency loss. The quote was professionally presented and completely wrong.
Rather than a blog with opinions, we built a tool: a calculator that applies the same sizing methodology used by certified engineers — Depth of Discharge, round-trip efficiency, seasonal derating — to any home's real consumption figures. The guides and decision pages grew from the questions users kept asking after running the calculator.
The site covers the UK, US, Australian, and European markets. All technical content is maintained by the BatteryBlueprint Editorial Research Team. We use publicly available engineering standards, utility data, and manufacturer documentation to build our calculators and guides.
