Enphase
The distributed architecture of the IQ 5P is its strongest engineering asset. By utilizing six integrated microinverters per unit, it eliminates the single point of failure found in traditional centralized battery inverters. The 3.84 kW continuous output from a mere 5 kWh capacity yields an excellent C-rate, making it highly capable of handling sudden load spikes. It is best considered where reliability and modularity outrank brute-force single-unit capacity.
The AC-coupled nature introduces minor conversion losses compared to high-voltage DC systems. However, the 15-year standard warranty provides significant peace of mind. The system is heavily reliant on the Enphase App and System Controller for coordination during grid outages.
At 66 kg, the 5P is considerably easier to maneuver than 10+ kWh monoliths, often allowing for a single-person installation. Wiring is simplified via the Enphase communications bus. Always verify that your main panel can handle the aggregate AC output if stacking multiple units.
